Income from non-wage earners' activities in 2015 On the rise in most areas of activity
At the end of 2015, 2.7 million people in France engaged in a non-salaried activity, excluding the agricultural sector. 29% of them were micro-entrepreneurs. Between 2014 and 2015, the number of micro-entrepreneurs slowed and the number of non-salaried employees fell for the second consecutive year. In 2015, non-employees receive an average of €3,340 per month, €1,070 in retail, excluding stores, and €8,470 for doctors and dentists. Micro-entrepreneurs earned an average of 440 euros monthly from their work in 2014. Three out of ten combined this activity with salaried employment; including their wages, they receive a total of €2,180 per month. In a given sector, women earn a third less than men. Between 2014 and 2015, the average activity income earned by micro-entrepreneurs increased by 6.1%, while the number of traditional non-wage earners grew by 2.5%: +3.0% for traditional individual entrepreneurs and +1.7% for the majority-owning managers of companies. These increases apply across almost all business sectors.
