Perfumes and toilet preparations, an asset for France

France is Europe's biggest manufacturer of perfumes and toilet preparations, far ahead of Germany and Italy. In 2015, production amounts to €9.1 billion, i.e. 32% of total European production. Make-up products account for over half. France dominates the market for perfumes and eaux de toilette, where it accounts for two thirds of European production; it is also responsible for 40% of the production of make-up products. It has a much more modest share of the hygiene products market (13%).
