French multinational companies in 2014: 5.5 million employees outside of France
In 2014, French multinational companies (excluding the banking sector) control 37,000 subsidiaries abroad. Their foreign subsidiaries account for 54% of their consolidated turnover and 56% of their workforce, i.e. 5.5 million people. Headcount in foreign subsidiaries increases by 2.4% compared with 2013. Per capita wages cost amount to €36,000/year. The foreign investment of French firms continues to be directed primarily at non-EU countries.
