The pleasure boat industry in France: specialisation in sailing boats

In 2015, the production of pleasure boats in France represented 40% of all boat building, as was the case for the European Union (EU). France specialises in sailing boats; the EU as a whole is positioned more with motor yachts. French production of pleasure boats was €873 million, or 13% of European production; the manufacture of sailing boats alone reached €573 million, or 34% of European production. The maintenance and upkeep of pleasure boats represents a third of production activities.
