On 15 February 2017, according to provisional data, 45.7 million French people were registered on the French electoral rolls. During 2016, the number of voters increased in all regions with an average national rise of 1.8%. The upcoming 2017 presidential election was a strong incentive for French people to register or re-register on the electoral rolls, as was the case in 2011 before the presidential election in 2012. The scale of the mobilisation is nevertheless slightly less than in 2011.
