The demographic predominance of the largest municipalities is declining

From 2009 to 2014, demographic growth in the largest municipalities remained generally lower than that in the less populated municipalities, despite their contrasting dynamics. The share of the population living in the one hundred most populated French municipalities continued to decline, although at a less sustained rate than in previous decades. These trends can be seen in all the regions, although the share of the population concentrated in the largest municipalities is quite variable.
