Housing stock in France at 1 ^st January 2016

On 1st January 2016, France excluding Mayotte had 35.4 million housing units. In Metropolitan France, 82% of dwellings are main residences and 56% are one-family dwellings. The Paris conurbation has 16% of the main residences and rural areas have 43% of second homes. In the overseas departments, housing stock is growing faster than in Metropolitan France, at around 2.5% on average per year for the last thirty years, compared with 1% in France.
