The manufacturing industry: a definite upswing in 2015

In 2015, the output of the manufacturing industry in volume experienced a rebound, improving by 1.7%. International flows intensified and the external trade deficit declined. Despite these positive signs, the drop in payroll employment in the manufacturing industry continued, with enterprises having recourse to temporary employment to cope with the variations in activity. In 2014, turnover in the manufacturing industry was €869 billion. The margin rate for these enterprises is now improving.
