44.6 million French electors on 1st March 2014

On 1st March 2014, according to preliminary data, 44.6 million French citizens were registered on the electoral lists in France. The number of voters increased by 0.9% (+417,000) in one year. While in 2013 the number of voters declined, this increase reflects the involvement of the electorate in the municipal and European elections in spring 2014. In almost all French regions, the number of voters increased; the increase was stronger or weaker depending on their demographic growth.
