Insee FocusMicroenterprises: 2 million very diverse units

In 2012 in France, 2.1 million microenterprises had 2.3 million employees. They represented 168 billion euros in value added, or 17% of the value added of non-agricultural and non-financial mainly market sectors. The 55% of microenterprises without employees generated low turnovers. Microenterprises work mainly in trade, construction and business services. The majority of them opted for the legal status of limited liability company.
