Market services in 2013 - Growth contracts again
In 2013, non-financial market services represented 33% of the value added of the French economy. Their value increased by 0.2% in volume, following +0.6% in 2012 and +2.2% in 2011. Employment declined very slightly (-0.2%), representing a loss of 30,000 full-time equivalent jobs. Growth in household consumption of services continued (+0.7% in volume, after +0.6% in 2012), but demand from enterprises and general government slowed, particularly for investment (+0.2 %, after +3.6% in 2012). Telecommunications remained the most dynamic activity. Activities related to culture and leisure picked up slightly. Foreign trade remained balanced.
