The homeless and employment - Fragile jobs for fragile living conditions
At the beginning of 2012, one-quarter of French-speaking homeless adults assisted by welfare services had a job and two-fifths of them were unemployed. Nine homeless persons in ten, meanwhile, have already worked at some time in their lives. Employed homeless persons have more stable accommodation conditions than other homeless persons, but they occupy highly precarious jobs: 22% declare that they do not have an employment contract and 15% are temporary workers, interns or seasonal workers. In addition to this, two in three homeless persons have been working for the same employer for less than one year, and three in five have a wage of less than €900 per month.
