Earnings of central-government employees in 2009
In 2009, French central-government employees had average monthly earnings (full-time equivalent) of €2,830 gross and €2,377 net. Both net and gross earnings rose 2.1% in current euros between 2008 and 2009. Allowing for 0.1% price growth in 2009, the gain came to 2.0% in constant euros. On a like-for-like basis, i.e., excluding the 17,000 workers whose management was transferred to local government in 2009, net earnings rose 1.8% in current euros. Average net earnings of workers on the payroll in both 2008 and 2009 gained 3.6% in current euros in 2009 versus 4.5% in 2008. In constant euros, the increase came to 3.5% compared with 1.6% in 2008.
