Two out of three households have Internet access at home
In ten years, the proportion of households with Internet access at home rose from 12% to 64%. The “digital divide” is therefore narrowing, but differences by education and social category persist. The computer is still the most widely used medium, but new Internet-access channels are gaining ground. Mobile Internet, for example, has made significant inroads: 24% of Internet users were already browsing the Web on their cellphones in 2010, up from a modest 9% in 2008.
