Entrepreneurs: new profiles with the rise in auto-entrepreneurship
Since it came into force on 1st January 2009, the success of the auto-entrepreneur system has profoundly changed the business start-up landscape. Each year, between 270,000 and 360,000 auto-enterprises are registered, i.e. more than one business start-up out of two. This new status has modified the profile of entrepreneurs. While one entrepreneur out of three has a classical profile with a project based on significant investment, other entrepreneurial profiles have become more prominent or have emerged. Thus business start-ups by salaried employees, retired people or students as a complement to their activity now represent one start-up in three. Additionally, other entrepreneurs have seized the opportunity afforded by the auto-enterprise system to go into business more easily or earlier than with a traditional start-up, and have made it their main activity.
