An unemployment insurance (UI) claimant has submitted a claim to receive UI benefits which has been accepted. They are eligible for compensation at the end of the month if they are eligible for compensation on the last day of the month. In some situations, a claimant does not receive UI benefits (working while unemployed, waiting period, sanction,etc.).
To claim UI benefits, a person must be registered as a jobseeker, be involuntarily unemployed, have worked for at least 6 months over the last 24 months (36 months for those aged 53 or over), be effectively and permanently seeking for a job, not have reached the legal retirement age and be a French resident.
