Définition

The job classes offer a stratified reading of society, complementary to the historical groups and categories of the PCS. In concrete terms, their scheme defines four levels of qualification for the self-employed and employees, from the lowest to the highest positions.

Within each class of salaried jobs, the sub-classes reflect cleavages that are not very present in the PCS nomenclature: according to the limited or unlimited nature of the duration of the work contract, the nature of the employer (public or private) and the orientation of the job (tertiary or technical).
