Définition

The "Baccalauréat" is a qualification rewarding successful completion of upper secondary education. A "Baccalauréat" can have a general, technological or vocational orientation and gives access to tertiary levels.

A general "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a general programme (predominantly scientific [S], economic and social [ES] or literary [L] until the 2020 session) organized around a coherent core of dominant disciplines as part of a general education.

A technological "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a general programme based on a more practical approach. The predominant field of the programme can be, for example, industrial, management, or health and social science and technology.

A vocational "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a vocational programme, oriented toward a determined occupation, although, like other types of "Baccalauréat", it also entitles the holder to go on to higher education. Around 80 fields are available. Since 2009, the programme lasts three years after completion of lower secondary education, like the other types of "Baccalauréat" (general and technological).

Remarque

It is classified at level 4 in the national framework for professional qualifications and at level 3 in the international standard one (ISCED-2011).
