Définition
The "Baccalauréat" is a qualification rewarding successful completion of upper secondary education. A "Baccalauréat" can have a general, technological or vocational orientation and gives access to tertiary levels.
A general "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a general programme. The predominant field of the programme can be economy and social sciences (ES), litterature (L) or sciences (S).
A technological "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a general programme based on a more practical approach. The predominant field of the programme can be, for example, industrial, management, or health and social science and technology.
A vocational "Baccalauréat" testifies the completion of a vocational programme, oriented toward a determined occupation (about 80 fields of education). Since 2009, the programme lasts three years after completion of lower secondary education, like the other "Baccalauréat" (general and technological).
Remarque
It is classified at level 3 of the International Standard Classification for Education (ISCED-2011) and at level 4 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
