Définition
Establishments classified Atout France are tourist accommodations to which Atout France, an economic interest group in charge of tourism development in France, credits for 5 years a ranking that ranges from 1 to 5 stars. This classification is awarded after the visit made by an accredited private inspection firm chosen by the establishment.
The agency Atout France maintains accommodation leaderboards. It developed and implemented since 2012 a new classification that corresponds better to new customer expectations and international practices.
Between 2009 and 2012, the two rankings coexisted. Since July 23, 2012, the old classification has become obsolete. Note that an establishment can be considered tourist (because hosting passing customers) without being classified Atout France.
