Domestic expenditure on Education includes all expenditures made, on the national territory, by all economic agents, central and local government, companies and households, for educational activities.

These activities include academic and extra-curricular teaching at all levels, organisation of educational system (general administration, educational guidance and education research), activities intended to encourage attendance at school (catering and boarding facilities, school medical services, school transport) and expenses requested by schools (supplies, books, clothing).

Domestic expenditure on education is assessed every year by the national Education Account, which is a satellite account of the National Accounts.
