Categories of France Travail registrants
Definition
People registered with France Travail, who are those listed on France Travail’s registers, have traditionally been classified into five categories based on their status regarding the obligation to seek employment and whether or not they are in work: A, B, C, D or E. In January 2025, two new categories (F and G) were introduced:
• Category A: registered individuals required to take active steps to seek employment, who are unemployed;
• Category B: registered individuals required to take active steps to seek employment, who have worked a short period of reduced hours (i.e., 78 hours or fewer during the month);
• Category C: registered individuals required to take active steps to seek employment, who have worked a long period of reduced hours (i.e., more than 78 hours during the month);
• Category D: registered individuals not required to take active steps to seek employment (due to an internship, training, illness, etc.), including job seekers under a personalized reemployment agreement (CRP), a professional transition contract (CTP), those who are unemployed, and those under a professional security contract (CSP);
• Category E: registered individuals not required to take active steps to seek employment, currently employed (e.g., recipients of subsidized contracts, business founders).
• Category F: individuals in social programs;
• Category G: individuals awaiting guidance.
