The manufacturing industries are industries transforming goods, that is, mainly manufacturing industries in their own right, but they also concern the repair and installation of industrial equipment and subcontracting operations for third parties.

This activity corresponds to section C in NAF rev. 2 :

For statisticians, manufacturing industry implies a "significant" material transformation, but there is no judgement as to the scale of the investment: there may be large facilities that fall within the service sector.
