Définition
The statistical block database is a geographic database that is jointly developed and marketed by the INSEE and the IGN. There is a 1990 and a 1999 version (years of the last two population censuses).
This database can be defined as a digitised base map of the street system associated with city blocks defined by the INSEE. It contains topographical and toponymic elements, information about the width of streets (simulating building facades), about the numbers at the ends of the facades (four per section) and symbols facilitating identification in the field (rivers, churches, gardens, etc.).
