Définition
Housing is divided into four categories :
- main residences: housing occupied permanently and as the household's principal place of residence ;
- vacant housing: housing available for sale or for rent, new completed housing that is not yet occupied ;
- occasional housing: housing used for part of the year for professional reasons ;
- second homes: housing used for weekends, leisure or holidays.
The distinction between occasional housing and second homes is sometimes hard to establish; that is why the two categories are often grouped together.
