The social minima aim to ensure a minimum income to a person (or his family) in a precarious situation. These benefits are non-contributory, i.e. they are paid without consideration of contributions.
The Active Solidarity Income, the Allowance for Disabled Adults, the Specific Solidarity Allowance and the Specific Allowance for the Elderly are the main social minima.
This type of benefit is means tested and enables beneficiaries to reach the minimum income level in question.
