Consumption (in the 2010 base) is established according to the European system of accounts (ESA 2010) which France implements from the 2010 base onwards.

Annual data are published "chain-linked, in volume": the principle consists of chaining trends calculated in volume from year to year to the previous year's prices based on values from the base year. In this way comparisons can be made with the actual changes that have taken place.
