Networks of banners accounted for more than a quarter of value added in the accommodation and food services sector

In 2020, in the accommodation and food services sector, networks of banners with at least 20 establishments accounted for 27% of the sector's value added. These 168 networks grouped together 26,700 establishments, located mainly in four regions. They employed a third of full-time equivalent employees in the accommodation and food services sector. Among the establishments in the accommodation and food services sector belonging to a network, those with a contractual relationship with the network head, in the form of a franchise or other arrangement, were in the majority in the accommodation sector (84%) and in the minority in the food services sector (43%).
