At the start of 2010, 62% of households living in Metropolitan France had life insurance, as many households as those owning a property: 41% of households had life or endowment insurance policies and 39% death insurance policies. Between 2004 and 2010, as between 1998 and 2004, life insurance continued to grow and thus in 2010 it confirmed its major role in the financial wealth of households.
