The wages of State workers in 2007
In 2007, a State Public Service worker received an average gross wage of 2,682 euros per month. With social security contributions deducted, the average net wage was 2,244 euros per month. The net wage increased between 2006 and 2007 by 2.9% in current euros, a rate comparable to the rate of the gross wage. Taking into account a price increase of 1.5% as an annual average for 2007, the net wage and the average gross wage increased by 1.4% in constant euros. However, excluding from the scope in 2006 the 50,000 low-skilled workers who left to join local authorities in 2007, this increase was only 1.8% net in current euros, or +0.3% in constant euros. In 2006, this increase was 1% in constant euros. The evolution of the average wage is sensitive to departures and recruitment as well as promotions and the progression of employees. The average net wage of those present in 2006 and 2007, meanwhile, rose 3.3% in current euros, or +1.8% in constant euros. Over four years, the wage of those present for twelve months in 2003 and 2007 increased by 1.4% as an annual average, in constant euros.
