CEO's salaries in medium - and large-sized companies
In 2005, the CEO of a «société anonyme» (public limited company) employing at least 50 employees received on average a net annual salary of 127,400 €. The best-paid 10 % had salaries that were almost 5 times higher than the lowest-paid 10 %. The leading measurable determinants of a CEO's salary were the type of company (independent, head of a group or a subsidiary), its size and its sector of activity. And if this salary rose regularly over these last ten years (+1.3% per year on average in constant euros), this is partly explained by structural modifications occurring at the end of the 1990s.
