Refuse from large commercial premises in 2006
Paper, cardboard boxes, plastic and other discarded materials, often not sorted for recycling - in 2006 there was estimated to be 7m tonnes of non-hazardous waste from commercial premises, i.e. 5% more than in 2004. Nearly 40% of this waste, i.e. 2.7m tonnes, came from large commercial premises (with 50 or more employees). Although managing this waste represents an additional cost for these companies, it is mainly considered as a major environmental problem. Moreover, three quarters of large companies have put in place a specific refuse-management system.
