Innovations in market services: related above all to the new technologies
Among market service companies with at least ten employees, 48 % say that they have innovated between 2002 and 2004. On average, service companies innovate less than industrial companies (54 %) but more than the other market sectors. The most innovative services are those linked to information and communications technologies, such as telecommunications, computing, audio-visual and, of course, research and development, classed among the service activities. The financial sector is also one of the most innovative sectors (57 %). All else being equal, company size and belonging to a group are factors favouring innovation. Innovation-related expenses represent on average 4 % of the turnover for companies that innovate.
