Individual entrepreneurs' incomes in 2005
In 2005, there were more than one million sole proprietorships with fewer than twenty employees in France. Their numbers have been falling continually for fifteen years, with sole proprietorships losing out to the range of other company statutes. The average income of individual entrepreneurs rose in 2005 to €25,900 and has stagnated, in inflation-adjusted Euros, since 2000. There are more individual entrepreneurs with no employees than in 2000, and on average they have seen a slight increase in their incomes. The best paid professions are those in the health sector (pharmacy, veterinary) and company services, particularly the most highly qualified (lawyers, accountants, etc.). Individual entrepreneurs' incomes grow with the size of the company and the individual's experience.
