Monthly survey in the retail trade and in the trade and repair of motor vehicles

The objective of the monthly business tendency survey in retail trade and motor vehicle trade and repair is to provide early information on developments in retail trade for the purpose of short-term diagnosis and forecasting of retailer activity, both at national and European level.
The purpose of the monthly business survey in retail trade and car trade and repair is to record retailers' opinions on their recent activity and business prospects. The business leaders interviewed give their opinion on the recent or upcoming evolution of their sales, the level of their stocks, their order intentions, the evolution of their workforce as well as that of their selling prices. Business leaders also provide an opinion on their cash flow and the payment terms of their customers.
The survey also makes it possible to calculate the synthetic indicator of the business climate in retail trade and car trade and repair.

The survey was conducted for the first time in 1964.
