Increase in corporate bankruptcies in July 2012

Corporate bankruptcies - Judgments of July 2012

Warning: The Insee will no longer be disseminating data on corporate bankruptcies as the Banque de France has newer and in principle more complete data available, from commercial courts matched with BODACC. The main information about corporate bankruptcies will be monthly from now on at your disposal in the Banque de France publication Stat Info (see the publications end Septembre 2012, end August 2012 and end July 2012), and on the website Webstat. Information on corporate bankruptcies is available there for 11 different sectors of activity seasonally and trading-day adjusted with a sliding total over 12 months. The higher data level result from counting all proceedings by the Banque de France, while the Insee keep back the first bankruptcie proceeding. However the two series’ evolutions are similar and corelated since 1993 (0.98).

Adjudicated corporate bankruptcies in July 2012 increased compared to June 2012 (+8.7 %, seasonally and trading-day adjusted data).

The number of adjudicated bankruptcies in May, June and July 2012 decreased compared to the same quarter 2011 (-8.8%).

-2.7% year-on-year (twelve months basis)

During the last twelve months, the number of bankruptcies decreased by 2.7%, y-o-y (twelve months basis).
