In September 2011, the turnover in manufacturing industry notably decreased (–1.8%)

Turnover in industry and construction – September 2011

Every indices in this issue are in value, seasonally and working-day adjusted.

In September 2011, the turnover declined (–1.8%) in the manufacturing industry. It was up in August (+1.2%). Exports fell by –2.8%, after +2.0% in August.

The turnover noticeably dropped in the other manufacturing (–2.3%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (–4.2%) in September 2011, in particular in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (–5.2%).

The turnover also decreased in the manufacture of food products and beverages (–0.6%) and in the electrical and electronic equipment ; machine equipment (–0.6%).

In September 2011, the turnover rose in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+2.1%).

The turnover of the industry as a whole (B to E) went down in September (–2.0%).

In the last quarter (Q/Q–1), the turnover in the manufacturing industry slowly grew (+0.4%). It was particularly up in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.6%) and in the electrical and electronic equipment ; machine equipment (+1.9%) but it declined in the manufacture of transport equipment (–2.0%).

Year-on-year (Q/Q–4), the turnover in manufacturing industry increased by 6.4%.
