In April 2012, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.1%, after a rise by 0.8% in March. The year-on-year change was +2.1% in April. The price index without tobacco increased by 0.1% in April 2012 (+2.0% year-on-year). Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change is stable (+2.1% year-on-year).
The slight rise of CPI of April resulted from the growth of service prices, mainly seasonal, and from the small increase of manufactured goods and energy prices.
In April 2012, prices of manufactured products were rising by 0.2% (+1.6% year-on-year), mainly due to increase of prices of passenger transport and holiday housing rentals with spring holidays.
In April 2012, prices of energy were rising once more, but in a softer way this month (+0.1%; +5.3% year-on-year).
Prices of manufactured goods went up by 0.1% in April 2012 (+0.8% year-on-year). This small increase is due to clothing and footwear with the spring collection and purchase of new cars.

Prices of food products were stable in April 2012 (+3.5% year-on-year). Fresh products are decreasing for seasonal reasons while prices of bread and cereals increase with the costs of primary goods. Meat prices were stable this month.
Core-inflation (ISJ) is stable in April 2012 (+1.4% year-on-year).
The harmonised consumer price index (HICP) went up by 0.2% (+2.4% year-on-year).
