Monthly change: +0.1%; year–on–year: +1.6%
In May 2010, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.1% (+1.6% year-on-year), after a rising by 0.3% in April.
The price index without tobacco increased also by 0.1% (+1.6% year-on-year).
Adjusted from the seasonal variations, the monthly change went down by +0.1% (+1.7% year-on-year).
In May, general prices were pulled upwards by the further growth in energy prices and the seasonal rise in fresh products and some services.
A contrario, the index registered this month the seasonal decrease of prices for district heating and also further sales promotions on cars and telecommunication services.
Prices stability in services
Prices of services were stable in May 2010, decreases and increases made up for another end (+1.2% year-on-year).
Prices of energy products continued to go up
In May, prices of energy products continued to go up (+0.9%; +13.6% year-on-year), along with the growth of oil prices in previous months. Prices of fuel products rose by +1.4% this month (+20.4% year-on-year).
Prices of food products increased
As in May 2009, prices of food products increased by 0.3% in May 2010 (+0.9% year-on-year). Prices of

fresh products continue to grow (+2.0%; +3.7% in April 2010; +7.0% year-on-year).
For seasonal reasons, fresh fruits are the most contributing products to the monthly growth (+13.3%; +4.1% year-on-year; +7.7% in May 2009).
Prices stability on manufactured products
In May, the prices of manufactured products are stable, like in May 2009 (—0.3% year-on-year).
Core-inflation were stable
Core-inflation (ISJ) was stable in May 2010 (+1.4%; +1.5% year-on-year), while it was increasing by 0.2% in May 2009.
The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.1% (+1.9% year-on-year).
