In January 2010, the consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 0.2% (+1.1% year-on-year), after rising by 0.3% in December.
The price index without tobacco went down by 0.2% (+1.0% year-on-year).
Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change went up by 0.4% (+1.2% year-on-year).
The drop of the CPI in January results mainly from that of manufactures’ prices, linked with the winter sales. This drop is nevertheless lightened by the important increase in fresh products, notably due to difficult weather conditions, and by the price growth in oil products.
