The consumer price index was down by 0.2% in September 2009

Price index – August 2009

Monthly change: -0.2% ; year on year: -0,4 %

In September 2009, the consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 0.2% after an increase by 0.5% in August.

Adjusted for seasonal variations, CPI went down by 0.2% as well m-o-m. The year-on-year price change declined (-0.4%), for the fifth-consecutive month. The price index without Tobacco decreased also by 0.2% (-0.4% year-on-year). The decrease of the CPI in September is largely due to the fall of services price at the end of the summer holydays and the decline of energy prices. These drops in prices are only partly balanced by seasonal increase in prices of fresh food-stuff and clothing-footwear at the end of summer.
