In November, consumer’s confidence indicator is still increasing (+2 points)

In November 2010, consumer’s confidence about the economic situation improves: its summary indicator gains 2 points with respect to October.

Households are more confident about their past and future financial situation

In November, households appreciation of their financial situation (past or future) clearly improves, the corresponding balances both gain 3 points, but remain below their long term value. The balance on past general economic situation in France is stable. The one on future general economic situation slightly decreases (-1 point) for the first time since June. Households’ opinion on the timeliness to make major purchases is stable for the second month in a row.

Future unemployment: forecasts are up

In November, households are more numerous than in October to forecast an increase in unemployment, the corresponding balance gains 2 points. It had sharply decrease over the summer (-25 points between July and October), remaining above its long term average.

Inflation’s appreciation: increasing

In November, households report that past inflation has increased (+3 points). Moreover, the expected inflation balance of opinion increases (+3 points).

Pessimism about the capacity and the opportunity to save

Households’ opinion about their current financial situation slightly increases (+2 points) and remains higher than its long term value.

However, households believe that their savings capacity in the next 12 months deteriorates (-2 points) while their opinion on the timeliness for savings decreases as well (-5 points, after +8 points in October).
