In November, households consumption in manufactured goods holds (–0.1%)

Households consumption in manufactured goods decreased in November by 0.1% in volume*, after + 1.0% in October.

[* Volumes are chained and all figures are trading days and seasonally adjusted.]

Durables: driven by car purchases

Only expenditures in durables increased in November, with a dynamic +2.0% growth, after +1.0% in October. Once again cars sales were quite dynamic (+4.2%) adding to their large increase since August. Households are already making the most of the scrappage program which will be cut off in January, from 1,000€ to 700€ .

Household durables purchases slowed down (+0.2%). If expenditures in domestic electrical appliances, electronics and computers remained dynamic, those in furniture dropped.

Textile: decreased

Expenditures in textile were depreciated in November (–1.8%) after two months of growth (+2.4% in October and +3.0% in September, respectively).

Other manufactured goods: also decreased

Other manufactured goods expenditures have decreased in November (–1.0%, after +0.5% in October). In particular, sales in hardware products and jewelry weakened.

October figure is scaled down by –0.1 point.

For October, expenditures in durables are downgraded by 0.3 point, those in car purchases by 0.6 and those in households durable by 0.1 point. Expenditure in textile are also dowgraded (-0.2 point). Other manufactured goods expenditures are upgraded (+0.2 point).

These revisions are mainly du to the update of seasonnal and working day adjustment. To a less extend, they are explained by new informations on other manufactured goods.
