In Q2 2016, payroll employment continued to increase in non-farm market sectors (+0.2%). With 24,100 jobs created, it increased slightly less than in the previous quarter (+37,300 jobs). Year-on-year, it rose by +0.9% (+143,300 jobs).

Employment continued to drop in industry in Q2 2016 (−0.3%, i.e −9,700 jobs). In construction, job losses resumed (−0.3%, i.e. −3,500 jobs after +0.1% in the previous quarter). Year-on-year, industry shed more jobs (−33,900) than construction (−13,400).
By contrast, overall tertiary-sector employment continued to increase in Q2 2016, although it slowed down (+0.3%, that is +37,300 jobs, after +0.4% in Q1 2016). This increase is due to employment in services excluding temporary work (+0.3%, i.e. +37, 800 jobs, after +0,4% in Q1 2016). Over a year, excluding temporary work, employment in services increased by +1.4% that is 155,100 jobs. All in all, employment in non-farm market sectors excluding temporary work increased over a year (+107,800 jobs).
Temporary employment stabilized
Temporary employment stabilized in Q2 2016 (-500 jobs that is -0.1%). Year-on-year, it increased (+6.5%, +35,500 jobs).
