According to the business leaders questioned in May 2012, the industrial economic situation deteriorated: the synthetic indicator decreases by two points, it now finds its level of February 2012. It remains markedly below its long-term average.
The turning point indicator goes down to the unfavorable area.
Business leaders consider remain pessimistic about their past activity in manufacturing industry. Stocks of finished products increase slightly and they reach their long-term average. Total order books decrease markedly and are rated as very low; export order books are steady: the balance of opinion remains below their historical average.
Looking at the personal production outlook, which is steady, activity in manufacturing industry would not be dynamic in the next months. The general production outlook, which represents business leaders’ opinion on French industry as a whole, weakens strongly and are very below its long-term average.
