In September 2012, manufacturing output decreased strongly (-3.2%)

In September 2012, manufacturing output decreased strongly in volume (-3.2%). It rose in August (+2.1%).

Output decreased in industry as a whole (-2.7%).

During the third quarter, manufacturing output improved (+0.9%)…

During the third quarter (q-o-q), output improved in the manufacturing sector by 0.9%, whereas industry as a whole stayed stable.

Output increased in the manufacture of transport equipment (+3.2%), in other manufacturing (+0.5%) and in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment (+1.2%). Output rose strongly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+4.9%).

…but was lower than its last year’s level by 1.9%

Manufacturing output decreased by 1.9% (y-o-y).

It decreased in other manufacturing (-2.6%) and in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment and machine equipment (-2.8%). It declined sharply in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-5.3%). To a lesser extent, it also decreased in the manufacture of transport equipment (-0.2%).

Output decreased sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (-11.3%)

Output decreased sharply in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-16.2%). It also decreased in the manufacture of other transport equipment (-5.5%).

Output decreased in “other manufacturing” (-2.0%)…

Output went down in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-4.1%), in the manufacture of rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products (-3.0%), in the manufacture of wood and paper products; printing and reproduction of record media (-2.9%), in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-1.2%) and in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (-4.6%).

… and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (-1.6%)

Output went down in the manufacture of food products and beverages by 1.6%, due to a fall of oil production and a decrease of beverages production, after the heatwave observed in August.

Output fall in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-12.1%)

Output fall in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-12.1%), because of maintenance operations in a refinery.

It decreased moderately in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment, machine equipment (-1.0%)

Output went down in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (-3.1%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (-1.2%). On the contrary, output increased in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+1.8%).
