Annual work unit / AWU

Definition

The annual work unit (AWU) is the unit of measurement of the quantity of human work supplied on each farm. This unit is equivalent to the work of one person, full time, for one year.

A distinction is made between salaried AWU (which may include the farmers themselves or members of their family), either permanent or seasonal, and non-salaried AWU. Also considered are all the family AWU, which include the farmers and their family members contributing to work on the farm, whether they are salaried or not.
