Labour force (national accounts)

Definition

The labour force is defined for the purposes of the national accounts as including all the persons of both sexes above a defined age who, over a specified reference period, provide the labour required for production activities (as used in the definition of production in the national accounts system, or SCN). It includes all persons fulfilling the conditions to be considered as persons with a job (salaried or non-salaried) or as unemployed persons.

Note

In the national accounts, the resident labour force includes French diplomats and military personnel abroad, but excludes foreign diplomats and military personnel having their usual place of residence in France.
