Social housing stock

Definition

Dwellings in the social housing stock (in the sense of the Ministry for Housing) are :

- dwellings belonging to HLM (low-cost housing) organisations, whether or not they are subject to HLM legislation as regards the setting of rent amounts ;
- dwellings belonging to other non-HLM social housing landlords (semi-public companies, the State, local authorities and public establishments) and not subject to the 1948 law.

Note

Accommodation with assistance and homes for the elderly or disabled are not part of social-sector housing.
