Definition

In healthcare, numerus clausus refers to the fixed number of students who are admitted to certain courses every year, mainly in regulated healthcare professions.
A law of 1979 allows for direct capping, by ministerial decree, of the number of students admitted to the second year of study for degrees in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy, according to the healthcare needs of the population.
