Ordinary jurisdiction

Definition

An ordinary jurisdiction has general competence to settle all types of disputes in all matters, except when specific competence is expressly attributed to another jurisdiction.

At first instance, the civil ordinary jurisdiction is the court of first instance. The criminal ordinary jurisdictions are the police court, the correctional court and the jury.

At second instance, the appeal court is the ordinary jurisdiction.
